Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from a counselling session?

Sessions are 50 minutes long, online or in person in St Albans. Sessions  are typically weekly and take place at the same time and day each week.  In the counselling session, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. My approach is collaborative, with a focus on your unique needs and goals.

What is your approach to therapy?

Gestalt therapy offers us the opportunity to deepen our awareness, become mindful, and make changes to our life in the present moment through understanding how our past experiences influence current thoughts and behaviours. This helps create lasting change in the present.  Depending on your preferences we can utilise dialogue, experiential exercises, and mindful awareness in our sessions.

What should I talk about in my first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. You can share whatever feels most relevant to you, whether it's your current challenges, goals, or background. We’ll discuss how I can best support you and explore how we can work together.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, what you share with me will remain private and confidential, with very few exceptions, such as if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others. We’ll discuss confidentiality fully at during our first session.

What are your counselling fees?

I charge £65.00 per session.  Session fees are payable 24 hours in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least 2 working day (48 hours) notice. Cancellations or changes made with less than 2 working days notice (48 hours) notice, or missed appointments, will be charged the full session fee. If possible, I will do my best to accommodate a rescheduled session within the same week, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Are you a member of a professional body?

Yes, I am registered with the BACP and follow their code of ethics.
